Games for Baby Showers

Baby shower games are always a fun way to get everyone together and laughing. It is always fun to see all the things people can come up with and then what everyone bought as well. There are not many women that don't like a good baby shower. If you are going to have a baby or give a baby shower and you are wanting to know some fun games to play here are a few that could make things fun and exciting.

Baby shower games are fun and keep everyone laughing. You can do the game where you fill some diapers with things. Put a blind fold on everyone and pass the diapers around. You can just close the diaper and have everyone sniff and write down their answer on a piece of paper. Once all diapers have been sniffed you can then give the answers and the person with the most correct gets a prize. Stock up on prizes, you may have more than one winner.

You can pass a roll of toilet paper around the room. Everyone will tear off the amount that they think will fit around mommy to be. When everyone is done, they will each one by one see if they have a fit. The close one will win. Again you will need to make sure you have enough prizes. It doesn't have to be big prizes, just some lotions or such will do. It is really just all in fun to see who can get the closes guess.

There are many different baby shower games to play, you can even have a guessing game. What will the baby's name be or something along those lines. It is really fun when the name has been a secret for a while and then everyone guess. If you are still wanting it to be a secret hold that price until the birth. Keep them guessing a little longer. There are word games as well. Like how many words can you spell out of baby things can you spell out of...and you fill in the word that will be used. These are fun and funny. You will crack up at the things people come up with. Have those prizes ready for the winners.

Having a baby is a fun time in a new mothers life. Getting together with family and friends before the baby arrives for some fun baby shower games it great. It is a time to share with each other and just laugh. These games are all about that and you are sure to have a great time playing them. Everyone likes a good game and a good laugh. It is good for the soul.

Pre-natal Dna Testing From Ormond Quay Paternity Testing

Pre-natal Dna Testing From Ormond Quay Paternity Testing

Author: Bob Smith

If you are pregnant and you want your paternity results prior to giving birth, you may want to consider “Prenatal DNA Paternity Testing”. DNA testing and biomedical technology is so advanced nowadays that DNA paternity testing can be done even with the child still in the mother’s womb.

A prenatal DNA paternity test is a conclusive way to determine if a man is the father of an unborn child. It is an option for those who do not wish to wait until the baby is born to determine paternity. This test is conducted by taking a sample of DNA from the unborn child and comparing it with the DNA of the mother and alleged father.

The two methods recommended by most of the doctors for Prenatal DNA tests are Amniocentesis or CVS. Amniocentesis involves taking a sampling of the amniotic fluid surrounding an unborn fetus. Amniocentesis can be performed during the 14th to 24th week of pregnancy, meaning the second trimester. On the other hand, CVS includes taking a portion of the placenta in the first trimester of pregnancy. Both these methods of prenatal genetic testing have their inherent risks and these should be considered when deciding to have Prenatal DNA Testing done or which method to use. Although DNA testing during pregnancy is very common and is 99.9% accurate in proving paternity, it is considered risky and harmful for both; mother and baby. Therefore, it is always advisable to avoid Pre-Natal DNA testing.

The popularity of Pre-Natal DNA Paternity test continues to grow in our society. However, you need to ask yourself three questions before a pre-natal DNA test to determine if pre-natal paternity tests are good for you or your unborn baby. Three questions are WHY, WHEN and How? If you want Pre-Natal DNA Testing, first consult your doctor and get the required information on where to get the test done.

How to Cure Acid Reflux in Infants

How to Cure Acid Reflux in Infants

Author: Juana How to Stop Heartburn: Simple Ways to Heal Heartburn and Acid Reflux
Cruz

Acid reflux can happen to anyone. That means babies are not immune to this disease. We all know that acid reflux brings discomfort in those who suffer from it. Acid reflux in infants, for one thing, is a painful disease because infants have weak bodies and their defensive mechanisms are not developed yet.

Acid reflux in infants happen when the baby is full, and when he coughs and cries after being fed. These factors create that added pressure in the upper stomach, which moves the stomach contents to the throat.

Common signs of infants with acid reflux include dramatic loss of weight, continual vomiting, recurrent choking episodes, too much drooling, problems in swallowing, hoarseness, food aversion and chronic ear infection.

While some babies display usual signs of acid reflux, there are babies who don't show signs such as throwing up. The reason is because they swallow up the acids instead. This could still cause irritation and, eventually, damage to the esophagus. One way of detecting silent acid reflux in infants is through the pH probe.

You can make use of certain tests to detect acid reflux in infants. One of which is the barium test wherein the infant has to swallow a little amount of barium. By this, the doctor will be able to determine the passage of food outlined by the chemical. However, this will only succeed in the moment that the child encounters acid reflux while being tested. Aside from barium, a radioactive solution could also be made to swallow before an x-ray to see the frequency of acid reflux. An endoscope views the infant’s mouth, esophagus and the tract of food in the stomach.
You as a parent can help prevent acid reflux in infants by always having him in an upright position when you feed him. The same case is true when changing the diaper, and more especially when he just ate his meal, just when he is still full. Give your baby small meals at short time intervals.

If you are a mother, you should always breastfeed him to lower the vomiting and the symptoms of his acid reflux. Breast milk has been always a great food source for infants, with so many nutrients and value to boost his health. However, you are advised to consult your doctor for some medications your baby can take if his condition does not stop, to bring relief in times of discomfort. The parents must take note of the critical administration of the drug. In case that the particular formula prescribed does not work or results to graver side effects, it is advised to shift to a new one.

Early Pregnancy Signs

By: Brenda Williams

Whether you are trying to get pregnant, or have been given a surprise by the news – there are ways of detecting pregnancy through normal body functions and changes, sometimes even before a missed monthly period. Of course, the most accurate sign of pregnancy is a missed period. Often, after a period has been missed a pregnancy test will read accurately. Most women become suspicious if they have regular periods, and even a day or two late is an irregular occurrence.

What To Expect Pregnancy Planner

As motherly as it sounds, food cravings can often be a sign of pregnancy. From popcorn to chocolate, these cravings may come at unnatural times and be a sure sign of early pregnancy. Are you experiencing cravings for food that you regularly avoid? This could be a sign of early pregnancy.

Tender or sore breasts are another sign of early pregnancy. With the hormone fluctuations that occur within the body, this can be a variable sign of pregnancy. Some women report that breasts feel heavier, sore, or even larger or engorged with the preparations that occur to accommodate the changes within the body. Darkening of the areolas may occur. What causes the darkening? Hormone fluctuations within the body can create these imbalances which cerate the darkening of the areolas. Sometimes in early pregnancy, an act as simple as a caress or wearing an uncomfortable bra can be a terrible experience. Not to worry, this pain usually subsides as the body adjusts to the pregnancy.

The increased levels of HCG within the body can have varying effects on each woman. For most, these increased HCG levels create the need for frequent urination.

Whole Pregnancy Handbook

Your body is working overtime to prepare for the pregnancy and the birth of the baby and with these increased workloads come fatigue. Fatigue is often one of the first signs in early pregnancy and could make something as simple as a day of errands feel like an exhausting task that warrants a nap. You can blame this on the increased levels of progesterone that are being produced within the body.

Morning sickness doesn’t just occur in the morning. Ask anyone who has gone through a pregnancy and suffered from the constant nausea and vomiting within the first trimester. Did you know that nausea can occur even two days after conception?

Along with morning sickness often comes an increased sense of smell as some say that this is nature’s way of protecting the mother from ingesting anything that may be harmful to the baby. Simply put, if you can smell garlic from down the block, or beer on your partner’s breath from across the room, you just might want to take that pregnancy test. An increase in post nasal drip or a nose that will not stop running is one of the signs of pregnancy as the nose is not exempt from the discharge which is increased through the body.

The Healthy Pregnancy Cookbook: Eating Twice as Well for a Healthy Baby

An increase in cervical discharge is an early indicator of pregnancy. This clear substance can be more pronounced even two to five days after conception.

Types of cloth diapers: Now, Fashion is even visible in diapers

Summary: Fashion is visible everywhere, even in diapers. Some of the most common form of cloth diapers include: All-in-one diapers (AIO), all-in-two diapers (AI2), pocket diapers, cover diapers and fitted diapers. Currently, All-in-one diapers (AIO) are the most popular kind of cloth diapers available in the market.

Fashion is visible everywhere, even in diapers. Yes, you heard (read) it right. Diapers of your toddler have undergone massive changes in the past few years. Most parents today are seen shifting their attention towards the cloth diapers from the plastic ones. It is believed that a small child makes use of almost 7,000 diapers, right from their birth till they are able to finish their potty training. This huge amount of plastic waste can be altogether averted by making use of cloth diapers.

However considering the large quantity of cloth diapers that are available in the market today, it is easy for new parents to be fairly intimidated and even get confused about the type of cloth diapers, which they should opt for. However, it is not possible for an individual to choose a particular kind of cloth diaper, until they can differentiate between their different types.

Which One To Choose?

The market today is bombarded with a large number of cloth diapers. Parents can choose from the available lot depending upon the need and comfort requirement of their child. Some of the most common form of cloth diapers include: All-in-one diapers (AIO), all-in-two diapers (AI2), pocket diapers, cover diapers and fitted diapers.

All in one diaper (AIO) are the most popular kind of cloth diapers available in the market today. These diapers combine the soaker material and waterproof outer layer into one single cloth. They are more or less exactly same as the plastic diapers in terms of function, with the only exception being the material they are made of.

For fastening, traditional cloth diaper requires diaper pins. However, you should never utilize over-sized pin to fasten the diaper, as it might harm your baby. They are mostly preferred by day care fathers, as changing them is very easy.

Some Other Variants In Cloth Diapers

The other popular category is All-in-two diapers (AI2). They are very much similar to the previous version. However, they differ in terms of the fact that the inner soaker material can be removed from the outer waterproof cover, as per one’s convenience. One of the main advantages of AI2 diapers is that they considerably help in cutting down on the drying time, as the soiled soaking material can easily be replaced with a fresh one.

Pocket diapers or fitted diapers are generally preferred by parents, who are looking for custom fit diapers for their child while he is growing up. The waterproof cover of the product is attached to a synthetic liner, thus creating a pocket that can absorb the wetness. Two layers of pocket diapers are sewn together in a manner, so that there is an opening in the back. You can put an insert of your choice into this opening.

Parents looking for economical cloth diapers should ideally go for cover diapers. Cover diapers are available in a wide range of materials, such as fleece, wool and PUL. These cover diapers can be used repeatedly and laundering them is a fairly easy task too. Cover diapers do not require pins or hooks to get fastened. They can be easily fastened with the help of elastic diapers.

So, let your toddlers become a part of the new-age fashion by getting him trendy cloth diapers!

Organic Baby Food: Preparing Solids For Your Child

When your child reaches around four to five months old, you may now start to introduce him or her to solid food. No, you cannot just feed your baby with the same food that you have on your dinner table. Remember that babies have very sensitive digestive system so you have to be very careful when feeding your child with solid food. To ensure that your baby is safe, it’s best to give your baby organic baby food. One of the best things about organic baby food is that they are free from any artificial additives so you know that your baby is getting healthy and chemical free food.

Buying and Preparing Organic Baby Food
If you do not have the time to prepare organic baby food for your little angel, you can just get those organic baby foods in bottles and cans. Pre-cooked organic baby foods are generally safe for your baby so you need not worry about giving your baby unhealthy food. However, since there are some people out there who are more concerned with profits than the wellbeing of their customers, you should be very careful when purchasing food for your baby especially when you are shopping over the internet.

If you want to get baby food online, ensure that you buy these items from reputable online stores that are selling organic baby products. Do not just get organic baby food anywhere. Always remember that there are many businesses out there that sell fake products so, be very careful when purchasing food for your child.

On the other hand, if you opt to prepare your own organic baby food, you should first talk to your pediatrician on how to prepare your baby’s food. Before you prepare any organic baby food for your baby, visit your pediatrician first and ask him or her what you should give to your baby.

Preparing Your Baby’s Food
Your baby is not allowed to eat raw foods until the age of 8 months so this means that if you want to give your baby fruits, you have to cook the fruits first. And don’t forget, your baby’s system may be unable to digest the skin of fruits and vegetables so do not include the skin of the fruits and vegetables in your baby’s food. Yes, the skin of fruits and vegetables has lots of minerals and vitamins but since the digestive system of your child is still too young to process these things, discard the skin of fruits and vegetables when preparing your baby’s food.

What Are The Options for Prenatal Care-Baby Care?

By: shiv seo

They will help explain a lot of the choices available before, during, and after the birth and will tell you about labor, birth, and baby care. You'll also meet other expectant parents with due dates near yours.

Where to find classes

if you're planning a hospital delivery, hospital based classes can be useful, they'll help familiarize you with procedures and will include a tour of the labor ward. Child birth educators generally offer classes in hospitals as well as birthing centers, but some communities offer other local venues as well. Ask friends who have young babies to recommend a good class that's easy to get or visit www.baby-care-book.com most child birth classes include guidance on preparing your self for an active birth, in which your partner or birth coach is also involved.

There's now a huge choice in maternity care, although how wide the choice is will depend on what's available in your area. Looking at your prenatal options also means looking at your birth options.
Who Can Deliver Care?

Once you know you're pregnant, your first call will probably be to your family doctor or gynecologist. He or she may confirm the pregnancy with another test, take your blood pressure, and ask when your last period was to work out the due date. Your doctor will tell you the different options for prenatal care available in your area, and you can also talk through where the baby will be born, since these are often linked. Don't feel you have to make your mind up on any of these issues immediately go away and think about the possibilities before finalizing details.

Hospital care

you’ll be cared for by hospital based doctors, your obstetrician and or midwife. The prenatal care may lack the informality of other options, but if you have any complications, have an existing medical condition, or are having twins, it's probably the wisest choice to have your pregnancy monitored by professionals in this setting.

Midwives

In many places, prenatal care is given almost entirely by midwives who are based either in a free standing site dedicated to prenatal care labor and delivery or in a hospital. The comfortable, home like feeling of midwife centers is a comfort to many women who would like to have a natural birth out side of a hospital setting you can visit www.babies-tips.com Many women benefit from building a relationship with the midwives who will also deliver their babies.

Your doctor or obstetrician's office

you’ll have consultations, checkups, and tests through out your pregnancy to make sure you and your baby are doing fine. Most pregnancies are perfectly normal, but it’s vital to have this check up to make sure all is well and to spot possible problems early, before any harm is done. Here, too, you will have many opportunities to get to know and bond with the professional who will be on hand to deliver your baby when the time com

Choosing A Meaningful Baby Name

National Geographic Monkey Short-sleeved Tee and Legging Set

Contrary to the Bard's claim that what is in a name, the rose will smell just as sweet if called by some other name, some hold the view, 'God's name is greater than even God'. We have name, first name, last name, middle name, surname, nickname, pen-name etc. etc. One important post-natal task is naming the baby. Why is naming a baby so important? Because our ancestors were sure that the fate of any person depends on name. perhaps not so much as gender but name allow children to psychologically be aware of themselves as individuals. It is an important aspect of development. A doting mother would use a million names to koo-chee-koo her child- angel, dolly, sweety and the list goes on and on…..Naming a baby involves a ceremony in most of the cultures of the world. In baptism when the baby is christened his name is reinforced by its use in public in church. Hindu babies’ astrological chart is cast by a priest at the naming ceremony based on the exact time of its birth. Hindu name their babies on the name of Gods, great personalities.Muslims name their babies after prophets' or based on Arabic terms which mean good attributes and personal qualities like honesty, integrity.

The Chinese include the five principal elements metal, wood, water, fire and earth in the names of their babies. Commonly the names are kept after the celebrities or great people in the past. Babies are named after eminent person in the hope that the child inherits that nobility or greatness. Tips to choose baby names- one should avoid picking out meaningless names based on easy sounds. In the times to come with the world becoming smaller, one would travel extensively, as well as people immigrate so the name ought not to be ridiculously embarrassing so as to make the poor person a laughing stock. Names should be easy to pronounce as well as easy on ears. No tongue-twisting names please. Names should not sound like the names of some exotic foreign dish. Whatever the name be the baby should be given such upbringing so as to prove true to their names.Check out some interesting Tamil baby names, Kannada songs and know about child labor on these links.

Possible Respiratory Problems In Premature Infants

A premature baby is any infant that is born before 37th week of the pregnancy, although full term babies who have a low birth weight are also considered to be "premmies." When a child is born too early or appears to be too small, they are usually placed in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) where doctors and nurses that specialize in the care of premature babies can monitor their progress and treat any complications that may arise. One common complication that many "premmies" face is immature lungs. Due to their early birth, their lungs have not yet developed enough to breathe properly in the atmosphere outside the womb. Three medical conditions that can result from the baby having immature lungs are Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), Transient Tachypnea, and Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD).

RDS is harsh, irregular breathing that is caused by a lack of surfactant, an agent that prevents the lungs from collapsing. If a baby is suffering from this condition, the doctor can use a number of methods to treat him. He can administer supplemental oxygen supplies through a respirator or an oxygen hood. Continuous positive airway pressure can also be applied to stabilize the baby's breathing. The child may also need to spend some time in an endotracheal incubator. In the most severe cases of RSD, the doctor may need to administer doses of the surfactant agent to prevent the lungs from collapsing on their own.

Transient Tachypnea is the rapid, shallow breathing that a "premmie" experiences and usually proves to be temporary, passing in a few days time. This condition can occur in full term babies as well.

BPD is a more serious breathing condition that occurs when a child shows signs of lung deterioration. When a "premmie" needs to be on a ventilator for a long period of time, his immature lungs may not be able to hold up under the constant pressure of the respirator. Babies that are on a respirator for over 28 days are especially at a high risk of getting BPD. Once the respirator is removed, this condition usually improves, although the recovery time varies from infant to infant.

As well as these respiratory problems that are associated with immature lungs, a premature infant may also suffer from two other conditions that are known as Apnea and Bradycardia, which are oftentimes tied together. Apnea occurs when the "premmie" totally quits breathing for a few seconds at a time. Bradycardia occurs when the infant's heart rate begins to drop, often in response to the apnea. Physical contact with the baby (such as tapping his chest or back) can usually stimulate him to breathe, causing both of these conditions to subside.

A premature baby also runs a higher risk for developing pneumonia when compared to a full-term infant. Again, this type of lung infection is caused by all the other respiratory problems that these tiny babies can face. It can be treated with antibiotics as well as through intubation and the administration for supplemental oxygen.

If left unchecked, the infection can develop into meningitis, sepsis, or one of a number of other serious conditions that can be fatal. While there are many medical conditions that can affect a premature baby, respiratory problems are several of the most common. Again, most "premmies" are immediately moved to an NICU unit, which will enable the doctors and nurses to identify these conditions right away and begin an effective treatment program. Early detection can ensure that a premature baby can develop into a normal and healthy child.

Tips and Tricks for Hosting a Baby Shower Everyone Will Enjoy

Hosting a well planned baby shower can be just as much fun for you as it is for the mother to be. It's a great feeling to see your friend or coworker surrounded by all of her favorite people and feeling like the center of attention for an afternoon. Whether you've planned 100 parties or have never planned a party in your life, there is always the fear that no one will attend or that the guests won't enjoy themselves. In this article, we'll take a look at some sure-fire ways to ensure a successful shower.

Tip #1: Make your invitations stand out by including a unique baby shower favor
After you've gathered a list of all of the contact info of the friends and family of the mother to be, it's time to get people interested with an invitation that gets people excited about the upcoming party. Try sending a unique shower favor inside the invitation like a personalized tea favor with the name of the new mom and the date of the shower.

Tea favors are a unique way to keep the date fresh in your guests' minds, and also inexpensive - around 90 cents a piece online. By extending some generosity in the form of a unique favor, you'll get people excited about returning the favor by showing up to celebrate the festivities. To ensure the best attendance, make sure to follow up with a phone call about a week before the baby shower to confirm attendance.

Tip #2: Keep the energy high with fun activities

There's a fine line between having too much scheduling at a party and not enough. The way to avoid this is by having a game plan in mind, but not being afraid to go with the flow if things naturally take a different turn. If your games and activities are fun and rewarding, guests will be excited about playing along, naturally creating a high-energy environment.

Try promoting friendly competition by offering a baby shower favor as a prize for the winners of the games and activities. How about an adorable little basket, fill with all of those extra personalized tea favors, baby shower sugar cookies, or cute little jars of sweet "Mommy to Bee" honey personalized with the new mother's name and the date of the shower. Add a pretty organza bow and this unique shower favor makes being an active participant that much more exciting.

Tip #3: Offer lots of different types of food

At a baby shower, people tend to "sample". While there may be one specific time to eat, you'll want to have a wide variety of finger foods available for people to sample throughout the course of the party.

Some ideas are platters of deli sliced lunch meats and cheeses, fruit salads, veggies, a variety of unique dips, wedges of focaccia bread, and sliced sandwich wraps.

Half of the appeal of your party food is in the way that you present it. Dress up your platters with pretty pastel ribbons or embellish the edges of the platters with pacifiers. The food table is another great place for guests to find a shower favor. Try placing a bowl of personalized chocolate bar favors in a bowl on the table. This unique favor is not only scrumptious to eat, but the pretty, personalized wrapper is the ideal baby shower keepsake.

Finding the Perfect Bassinet for Baby’s Nursery

Submitted by catwomanseven

There are many things a parent to be must consider prior to the arrival of a new baby. Everything from baby proofing the home to putting together a nursery for the wee one are things that every parents deals with even if it’s not their first child. Preparing for the coming of a new baby can be both stressful and time consuming as well. This is especially true for those expecting their first child. Even with Grandparents, friends, and other parents offering advice the process can devour ones free time and make a person feel as though they’ll never have everything ready in time.

As a father of two young children I have experienced many of the overbearing emotions that come along with a pregnancy. In the case of my wife and our two children preparing for the arrival of our two children was a joy, yet at times it felt more like working for a horrific employer who gives ridiculously impossible deadlines that can’t be met regardless of how much overtime you put in. Perhaps these emotions were brought about by the sheer level of excitement and apprehension that accompanied the announcement of the impending births.

When my wife and I found out that she was pregnant with our first child we initially felt a great deal of excitement and started making plans to convert our home office into a nursery. Our excitement quickly turned to trepidation as we realized just how much work was going to be involved and how expensive the project was going to be. For a couple making a modest living this was a fairly intimidating prospect and we quickly reached out to our parents for advice on how to build a humble yet warm nursery.

Both sets of soon to be Grandparents offered up some great advice and my father actually pitched in and offered his woodworking services to us. Though he put together a fine dresser my wife and I agreed that we wanted to buy most of the furniture and put a nursery together that was unlike any other we’d ever seen.

With the dresser and changing station out of the way some of the worries we had began to fade away, that is until we started looking at baby bassinets. Our jaws drop to the floor when we found out just how expensive and elaborate some of these bassinets were. We were not just looking for an affordable bassinet but a simple one as well. While some of the bassinets we saw looked as though they would allow your infant to access the internet through their bed, we did eventually find a few baby bassinets that would allow our child to sleep comfortably and nothing else.

After viewing baby bassinets we began to look at painting our new nursery. Though this was one of the more affordable aspects of preparing the nursery, my wife and I found ourselves constantly disagreeing on the theme of the room. After a week or so of debates and headaches we finally settled on an underwater theme complete with fish, mermaids and whales. The painting of the nursery commenced and completed within the span of three days and it turned out rather well.

Over the course of two months our office was transformed into a nursery and we then turned our sights to baby proofing the home. There was a brief period of time where my wife and I considered postponing the baby proofing as our child would not be mobile for quite some time however we ultimately decided that it would be easier to prepare now rather than later or after the baby was able to get around on her own. We were also surprised at how complicated this process was too as it involved more than simply plugging up outlets and putting child proof locks on doors. We quickly found that we would need to secure all of our loose wires and cables, and better organize our movie collections as many of our movies where on shelves that could be dangerous to young children. We spent a good portion of our budget on baby proofing our home and in the end everything got put away, organized, secured to a wall or the floor and everything turned out just fine.

Though the process was somewhat difficult and stressful it was definitely an experience that I will look back on with fond remembrance.
We went through many of the same things during preparations for our second child albeit in a much more subdued manner. This was partly due to the fact that the home was already baby proofed before child number two was announced and in part because new baby would be occupying the same nursery. Preparing a home for the arrival of a newborn is both taxing and rewarding however practicing patience and focusing on the end result will always make the process more enjoyable.
